Basharat Ali, a young man from the Hushe Valley has moved to the Basque Country in order to do a Master on Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Mondragon University Campus in Oñati.
Basharat is participating in a project developed by the Baltistan Foundation that we are bringing to life thanks to the financial aid given by the provincial council of Gipuzkoa as well as the University. The objective is to give two young people of the Hushe Valley, one man and one woman, the opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge so that they will be able to become leaders that improve the educational and economic structural framework of the towns in the Valley, increasing the autonomy and opportunities of the groups currently more disadvantaged, especially women.
While waiting to solve the problems encountered by the woman regarding travel here, we can say that Basharat is quickly integrating into academic and local life. Evidence of that is that this week he has participated along with other members of the Foundation in the Mendi Martxa (mountain hike) organised in Oñati, a 21 km hike. In addition, his progress in Spanish and Basque has been significant.
