This news is from last week. Three years ago Malala created her own blog and made serious accusations against the talibans. On the 9th of October, 2012 she was shot by a Taliban, an enemy of the equal rights of women, and seriously wounded in the head and neck. Her crime? Defending the right of women to go to school and denouncing the Taliban radicalism that denies this right. She was taken to a hospital in Birmingham and after being operated on, she has started school again although she has had to do this far from her native town. Malala has become a symbol. A symbol in the fight against intolerance, Taliban radicalism and discrimination against women. But more than a symbol she is a model to be followed by adolescent Pakistanis, their families and in general by those people who do not accept discrimination. Today we all have something to celebrate.
