This fact, surprising to us, is not so much if we take into account that in this remote place in Kashmir (the Hushe Valley) the schools, whether they are public or private, lack enough teachers and their training is insufficient. Monica and Marck were in Karakorum in 2011, visiting the school in Kahne and decided to collaborate. The Baltistan Foundation organised the training of one teacher at Aga Khan University in Gilgit and the yearly cost of 2,000 euros is paid for by Monica, Marck and their collaborators, thus demonstrating that the international solidarity of mountaineering can do a lot.
