Since June 2011, FBF has joined the process of organizational change towards gender equality and is committed to achieving the much desired gender equality, through both outward actions and the internal dynamics of the Foundation. In the last years, the intention to include a gender perspective in FBF projects and programs has been reflected in the development efforts, but now the time has come to look inward and make efforts to achieve gender equality in the home. We believe that once this organizational change towards gender equality from within is made, it will be spontaneously reflected by external actions. Thus, FBF has started to equip and prepare itself to join this process of organizational change. To achieve this, it is receiving financial support from the Basque Government, and is being supported by the external consultancy Una gestión y comunicación and the internal group, FBF Gender, who have been meeting and working in this area since June of this year.
After several sessions, we are now in the second phase of the process; the self. The process will take about one year and, as a result of these efforts, is expected to produce a diagnosis document that defines gender in FBF, and an action plan / strategy to define the actions required to ensure gender equality in FBF.

The first stage of awareness, which was developed through the months of June and July this year, was a shared vision of gender as it exists in FBF. Several session have now been held during the months of September and October to develop the second stage of the process of self-diagnosis. In this stage we have tried to dissect the workings of FBF and to analyse each of its dimensions, processes and mechanisms in relation to gender inequalities. The analysis was performed on four areas: policy, structure, culture and products. The next step will be to identify areas for improvement and their priorities, in order to initiate the changes for gender equity.

Over the coming months we will enter the third stage; the Plan of Action. This will be based on the conclusions drawn from the diagnoses made in phases one and two of the process and will define the objectives of the long and medium term results, including the actions required, deadlines and performance indicators to monitor compliance. Meanwhile, the internal FBF Gender group continues to meet and draw conclusions based on gender in FBF itself, always thinking about improvements and making sure that the "theory" does not disappear in the day to day business, allowing it to become a "practice" in reality.
