The 0,7% Fund of the University of the Basque Country has given 106,174 Euros to six projects dealing with aid for development. This association, made up of university staff who donate 0,7% of their salary, finances projects on literacy and primary education.

The project Sharbi Nima ll. Project Malalah. One step forward in guaranteeing the right of children in Baltistan to an education with equity and quality (Pakistan), of the Baltistan Foundation has been one of the six chosen projects.

The project has a double objective:

• Guarantee the continuance of six teachers from the Munawar School, a pilot school of excellence in the valley (3 men and 3 women), by means of 12-month contracts.

• Reinforce the grant program for girls of the Valley in order to guarantee their schooling in Primary Education with 150 grants.

This amounts to 10,656.02 Euros, which will be necessary for the continuance of the project in this time of serious economic crisis. The awards ceremony will take place on Friday, 12 of April. We would like to extend our gratitud and that of all the people who benefit from the generous donations to the professors of the UBC.
